Olney Fellowship Application

Olney Friends School is committed to making our unique educational experience affordable for all accepted students. We believe that finances should never prevent a family from considering Olney as a high school option for their child. As such, we offer generous scholarship, fellowship, and need-based financial aid options.

Each year, Olney Friends School offers fellowships to students whose background, talents, ambitions, or leadership potential warrant financial support from our institution. We currently offer five fellowships:

 

Academic Fellowship: To qualify, applicants must have proven records of high academic achievement and potential. A successful candidate will also exhibit leadership potential and exemplary personal qualities consistent with the mission of Olney. Students may be asked to be peer counselors or tutors and to provide a student voice in academic affairs.

 

Olney Leaders Fellowship: Available to students who have exhibited strong leadership abilities and wish to continue developing their leadership skills. They will be expected to participate in student and community governance and be a student voice in the ongoing review of policies and procedures relating to student life.This fellowship is generally awarded to returning students who have assumed roles as student admissions ambassadors, dorm staff, office work or dish crew leaders.

 

Art & Music Fellowship: Available to students who are gifted artists and musicians. Recipients may be asked to organize an art show, assist other students in the development of their art and to help with ongoing display of student and faculty artwork.

Students who have attended Friends Music Camp are encouraged to apply.

 

Farm & Agriculture Fellowship: Available to students who have an interest or experience in organic farming and agriculture. Recipients will be expected to be leaders of Farm Team and provide additional help on the farm as needed.

 

Sustainability & Environmental Studies Fellowship: Recipients of the will be expected to participate in Olney’s stream monitoring program and be involved in local environmental advocacy and education. They will also be asked to assist with the school’s recycling center and ongoing carbon footprint assessment.

Olney Friends School is an independent, co-educational, college preparatory boarding and day school offering individualized instruction in small class settings for grades 9-12.

The Main Office is staffed seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. till about 10:00 p.m. when school is in session. The administrator on call is available for emergencies 24 hours a day during the school year at 740-359-4015.
