The Tuition Assistance Program at Olney Friends School is guided by our belief that parents have an obligation to pay the educational expenses of their children to the extent that they are able. The purpose of the Tuition Assistance Program is to fill the gap between the actual cost of a year’s tuition and what a family can realistically be expected to pay toward this cost.

Need-based Tuition Assistance is determined in part by the following factors: liabilities, assets, gross taxable and non-taxable income, family size and the number of students in tuition-charging schools or colleges. Allowances are granted for life’s necessities and required taxes, then the remaining funds are considered available for education on a sliding scale. Olney Friends School does not provide need-based tuition assistance to offset the cost of recreational or lifestyle expenses (vacations, second homes, etc.) that could have otherwise been allocated toward education.

Applying for need-based tuition assistance has no bearing on the admissions process. All admission decisions are made independently from tuition assistance decisions. However, families requesting tuition assistance should apply for both admission to the school and for assistance as early as possible.

Olney Friends School offers competitively generous funding packages to qualified, accepted students, but funds are limited and will often be awarded in the order in which tuition assistance applications are completed and reviewed.

No tuition assistance can be determined until a student has been formally accepted to Olney Friends School.

Parents or guardians are encouraged to complete the FACTS Tuition Assistance Application by April 15th (for Fall admissions) if they are expecting to qualify for need-based assistance. Families are welcome and encouraged to apply for admission and aid after this date, but applying early will help ensure the availability of funds.

Olney Friends School will not provide any tuition assistance until a student has been formally admitted to the school and all necessary documentation has been received.

Olney Friends School does allow families to appeal their initial tuition assistance awards. If you believe circumstances warrant a review, we encourage you to contact our Business Office and explain the situations regarding your appeal.  Please include any information and supporting documents that will allow our Financial Aid Committee to better understand and assess your situation.

No, but we accept external scholarships and 529 Education Fund payments. You can find more information on our Tuition & Financial Aid page.

Each year, Olney Friends School offers substantial tuition assistance awards to qualifying students, but we do not offer “full-ride” awards. All families are expected to make a contribution toward the education of their child. Additional fees such as transportation, school supplies, living expenses, and insurance should also be factored in to the expected annual cost.
